Linezolid

- Linezolid is a novel synthetic antibacterial which is highly effective for gram positive bacteria that are highly resistant to other antibiotics. It's mechanism of action is through inhibition of the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome. It is often used in patients with serious Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) infections who cannot tolerate vancomycin.
