Type IV Hypersensitivity
Overview |
---|
- Type IV Hypersensitivity is a basic mechanism of immune-mediated injury to host tissues. T-cells and Cell-mediated Immunity play the decisive role in this injury process with no contribution from Antibody.
Subtypes |
---|
- Two basic types of Type IV reactions have been described and highlight what subtypes of T-cells are mediating the injury.
- Delayed-type Hypersensitivity: Mediated by CD4+ T-cells
- T-cell-mediated Cytotoxicity: Mediated by CD8+ T-cells
