- Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colon Cancer (HNPCC) refers to development of colorectal carcinoma in an individual less than 50 years old together with a defined extensive family history of colon cancer that follows an autosomal dominant pattern. HNPCC is likely not a distinct etiological condition but can arise from germline mutations in a variety of genes.
