Hepatic Adenoma

- Hepatic Adenomas are benign neoplasms of the hepatocyte whose growth, usually under the liver capsule, is stimulated by estrogen. They appear in young women as a consequence of oral contraceptive use and may grow even larger during pregnancy where estrogen levels can be very high. They can rupture during pregnancy resulting in dangerous hemoperitoneum.
