Hemangiopericytoma

- The cell of origin for hemangiopericytomas is thought to be the pericyte. The tumor consists of masses of cells surrounding capillary-like channels. Importantly, tumor cells are located outside of the basement membrane, where pericytes normally reside. These malignant tumors display a range of aggressiveness but frequently undergo metastasis.
