Ganciclovir

- Ganciclovir is an acyclovir analog which acts through the same mechanism of action (See: Acyclovir). However, Ganciclovir has much better efficacy against Cytomegalovirus and is often used in AIDS Patients with CMV infections.
| Adverse Effects |

- Ganciclovir can cause reversible neutropenia which is particularly of concern in those also taking zidovudine for their HIV infections.
