- The major reservoir of Ehrilichia species are mammals such as wild deer and dogs. Transmission to humans occurs via tick vectors which have previously taken blood meals from infected animals.
Clinical Consequences |

- Ehrlichiosis is characterized by severe headache and fever roughly a week after inoculation. A Skin rash may develop but occurs only in a minority of patients.
