- Artemisinin is a naturally-derived antimalarial which has been used for millennial by Chinese physicians for treatment of a variety of diseases including malaria. The mechanism of action of artemisinin is still not fully understood. Importantly, no resistance to this chemical has been reported and it is commonly used for chloroquine-resistant strains.
