Bacteriology

Overview
  • Here we discuss the the clinically-relevant features of class of single-celled prokaryotes known as the Bacteria.
Note
  • Bacteria are named using the "Genus species" notation. When an organism with multiple clinically-relevant species is referred to just by the genus name (e.g. Streptococci), this refers to common characteristics that all species within the genus possess. In some cases, because there is only one clinically-relevant species within the genus (e.g. Listeria monocytogenes), the organism may be referred to just by the Genus name (i.e. Listeria).
