Singers Nodules

Overview
  • Singer's Nodules are reactive nodular growths which usually occur on the true vocal cords. They are composed of a core of connective tissue covered by a squamous epithelium. The nodules tend to occur bilaterally as opposed to Laryngeal Papillomas which occur unilaterally. In this sense the nodules can be considered reactive growths as they occur due to chronic irritation of the vocal cords in those who intensely strain their vocal cords such as singers or alternatively in chronic smokers.
