IL-6

Overview
  • Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a potent inflammatory cytokine secreted by Macrophages which have encountered microbe. Among a number of inflammatory effects this cytokine can induce fever as well as activate other immune effector cells. For example, IL-6 can increase antibody synthesis and secretion by B-cells.
